A central hub for employers to gain information around skills, training and qualifications
20% of businesses in our recent survey said there was not enougth readily available information about training. You told us you want one place for all your information on skills, training and qualifications.
You need a coordinated hub which offers a range of information on issues currently affecting businesses in the industry - including market forces, regulations, health and safety issues, and technological change.
Consistent enforcement of the industry recognised card installation schemes and their various levels
Fencing contractors have said that they are looking for site managers to show consistency around recognition of FISS/CSCS Cards and their various levels. We will continue to work with industry to ensure that qualifications are recognised and standards maintained.
A way to identify people with the right skills when looking for new recruits
In our recent survey (March 2010) 6 out of 10 employers indicated difficulty identifying people with the right skills when looking for new recruits.
Skills gaps are low within the UK fencing workforce; 97% of businesses reported that their current staff had the skills required to perform in their role.
However, a few businesses reported skills gaps in technical and job-specific areas.
