What We Do For You

For a skilled and successful game and wildlife industry.

We work to set the standards and qualifications so you can be your best

Setting your standards

Every three years, we work with you to review the jobs, skills and activities people carry out within game and wildlife management to ensure your National Occupational Standards (NOS for short) are up-to-date. The game and wildlife management NOS were reviewed in 2009.

NOS are great for businesses - small and large - providing the valuable information you need to develop job descriptions, training and recruitment plans. They help you recognise what skills are missing in your business and find the most relevant training and learning you need. Importantly, NOS also form the basis of Game and wildlife management qualifications. Read more about NOS.

Apprenticeships

The game and wildlife management Advanced Apprenticeship is the on-the-job training that helps an apprentice meet the official requirements.  During 2009 and 2010, we invited you to review the game and wildlife management apprenticeship to ensure it reflects how the industry has changed.

Bite-sized and flexible qualifications

You told us you wanted more flexible qualifications. The new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF for short) is proving to be a breakthrough in how people’s skills in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are recognised and accredited.

The QCF allows you to custom-build your qualification as you can ‘pick and mix’ what units of learning you want. By working with us on their development, you have influenced these new qualifications so they provide the best mix of knowledge and skills required.

Bringing Scottish qualifications together

The Scottish Qualification Credit Framework (SCQF for short) is Scotland's lifelong learning framework. It is designed to help you understand and compare the range of qualifications available in Scotland, bringing together the main Scottish qualifications offered in schools, colleges and universities.

The SCQF makes qualifications easy to describe and understand. It shows how qualifications relate to each other and how different routes can be taken to get the skills and qualifications you need.
