Description
The Green Business Network, in partnership with the Green Future Building Ltd social enterprise, is currently developing a multi-functional sustainable development scheme on a 10 acre site in Heckmondwike. The site includes a fishing lake on which a floating café will be situated plus workshops, picnic areas, footpaths, an outdoor classroom and bmx pump track. A full water attenuation system has been designed for the site including reed beds and eco-swales.
The scheme is being developed on a self-build basis providing jobs, skills development and training opportunities for local residents and particularly those from a wide range of disadvantaged groups. The lake has been excavated and the lining is almost complete. We are now ready to move onto the development of the rest of the site.
Funding has been secured under Kirklees Council’s Skills for Climate Change Programme (part funded by the European Social Fund) and we are looking to recruit an experienced landscaper who can get involved in the delivery of the on site works and at the same time run accredited training courses related to these works. This will include the development of new eco-based training modules.
We are looking for a highly self motivated practical individual to undertake this task and rise to the challenge of this new opportunity. Previous experience in delivering landscaping/land management/horticultural training courses is essential. A formal qualification in the delivery or assessing of accredited courses is required.
You will also have proven experience of supervising individuals with special needs who may be offenders, have substance misuse issues or children excluded from mainstream education. The successful applicant will have to undertake a CRB check.
The post is funded for the first 12 months but we anticipate the employment becoming permanent subject to successful delivery of the Skills for Climate Change Project.
