30/09/2011 - A £400 training grant is now available for Female Apprentices working in industries where women are statistically under-represented through Lantra’s Women and Work 2011-12 Project.

This funding is open to Female Apprentices UK-wide and covers training and assessment fees for short courses that support the development of under-pinning knowledge but are not eligible for funding as part of the Apprenticeship core funding.

Examples of eligible courses include:
  • PA1 – Safe Use of Pesticides
  • PA6 - Hand Held Applicators/Hydraulic Nozzles
  • ATVs
  • Health and Safety
  • First Aid
  • Tractor Driving
  • Chainsaws

To be eligible, Female Apprentices must be working in one of the following industries: agriculture, aquaculture, environmental conservation, farriery, fencing, fisheries management, game and wildlife, horticulture, landscaping and sports turf, production horticulture, land-based engineering and trees and timber.

Lyndsay Bird, Women and Work Project Manager, said: “This Project is unique as it requires the support of the employer, so it is a way to show your Female Apprentices that you want them to be successful.”

There are still a few places left on this Project so contact Lantra now to find out more and reserve your space for the Women and Work 2011-12 Project. All training needs to be completed by 1 Feb 2012, so don’t delay.
