23/06/2011 - From autumn 2011 businesses will no longer be able to report RIDDOR injuries, except fatalities and major injuries, by calling the HSE.
Online injusry reporting
As of 12 September all other reportable work-related injuries will move to an online system.
You will also no longer be able to report incidents by email, post or fax.
The HSE has confirmed that you will still be able to notify them about fatal and major incidents and injuries by phone to the HSE's Incidnet Contact Centre (ICC).
But as of the 12 September all other reportable work-related injuries will move to an online system.
You will also no longer be able to report incidents by email, post or fax.
The HSE said there will be seven forms available on the website covering categories such as injuries, diseases and flammable gas incidents, which it says will make the statutory reporting process "quick and easy."
"More than half of reportable injuries are alreadt notified to the HSE via the website and this proportion has been increasing steadily over the past seven years," said Trevor Carlile, the HSE's director of strategy.
"Taking advantage of the growing use of the internet allows the HSE to be more efficent in the way it works.
He added: "We do recognise, however, that people reporting a traumatic event still need that personal interaction so the notification of fatal and major incidents and injuries will still take place by phone."
"The executive said its website is "already overwhelmingly the most popular option for accessing health and safety information - with 100 times more visitors than the infoline has callers."
