When talking to the Welsh Land-based Learner judges Gareth’s specialist subject was the growing of maize under plastic compared to conventional systems. 

Currently studying a HND in agriculture at Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthen, Gareth said: “I think farming is a very rewarding job offering a variety of work and plenty of occasions, which make the long hours and hard work worthwhile. “
