Scotland’s elite land-based and aquaculture learners were recognised by the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Richard Lochhead at our seventh Land-based Learner of the Year Awards 2010.

A total of 25 prize winners, aged 15-29, celebrated their achievements at a ceremony held at Crieff Hydro on Thursday 3 March 2011. Read more...

2010 Winners

Richard Lochhead commented on the awards “The Lantra awards recognise outstanding achievement in the field of farming and other land-based industries and are vitally important in encouraging new Scottish talent to flourish.”

Overall Winner Land-based and Aquaculture Learner of the Year Award

Scott Simpson from Rothesay on the Isle of Bute scooped the top award for ‘Overall Winner - Land-based and Aquaculture Learner of the Year’, which was sponsored by Skills Development Scotland. He was also awarded the ‘Agricultural Learner of the Year’ award and was among the winners who met the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Richard Lochhead.
