Martin is the Director of Rural Development Initiatives Ltd., a not for profit company that manages business, market and workforce development projects in the forestry industry.
A Chartered Forester and Surveyor, Martin has worked with a variety of businesses and organisations in the region to support them in developing and diversifying their operations.
“The trees and timber industry in Yorkshire and Humber is very varied - from urban arboricultural companies through to forest nurseries, commercial forest harvesting concerns and greenwood workers. Like most land-based industries trees and timber has seen significant rationalisation and re-skilling in recent decades, but the threat of climate change and increasing realisation of the importance of trees and woods in people’s lives is giving rise to new opportunities for progressive companies.
