Steve Willis

 

Steve, a first generation farmer from Newcastle was a contract Herd Manager in Northumberland before moving to Yorkshire in 1993 to take on the tenancy of a dairy farm.

After recently giving up milk production Steve now operates a heifer rearing business on contract for organic dairy farmers. Steve also runs Crimple Valley Fresh, a home delivery business which sources local produce and delivers them to households in the region.

An ambassador for the industry Steve is also Secretary of White Rose Farmers, a farmers buying group with 55 members, regional panel member for the Milk Development Council, an RPA appeals panel member.  Steve was previously a member of the NFU National Dairy Board, representing the North East Region and is a former branch chairman of NFU. 

For the past three years Steve has chaired the Food and Farming Forum for the region. The group has had many achievements, encouraging new entrants, making children in education aware of agricultural career opportunities and succession planning conferences being highlights.
