Guidance for Female Farriers
Funding for female farriers and guidance
First time for Farriers
The money, which is matched by employer contributions, provides skills training, development and support for women.
It was given to 25 Sector Skills Councils, including us, so we set about identifying which of our industries have less than 50% women in their workforce – 10 in total.
This is the first time that farriery has been able to access these funds, providing a fantastic opportunity for female farriers. Like most other funding, there are some restrictions on the money pot but there is a wide variety of things it can fund.
Women and Work CAN fund:
- L11
- The AFT course
- ICT
- Health and safety
- Marketing
- Accounting
- Book keeping
- Using the Internet / developing a website
- Apprentices wishing to access additional training i.e. CPD
Women and Work CANNOT fund:
- Farriery apprenticeships if they are already being funded by mainstream funding - however these apprentices can access funding for other training which may not be included in the apprenticeship
- Accommodation
- Travel
Women and Work funding is available to:
- Registered female farriers who have completed their apprenticeship and looking for additional training
- Female farriers looking at becoming an ATF
