Meeting Current and Future Skills Demands
By improving qualifications and training.
This document gives you an overview of the sector, what drives your business and what your sustainability issues are. It also shows how your learning and skills will need to be developed to meet the various needs of an ever changing industry.
This Strategy has been published for a while during the summer of 2011 we will be reviewing and updating it. A draft strategy will be available in October for you to review

Sector Qualifications Strategy Action Plan
During 2009, we worked with a number of people to review the SQS to see what had been achieved and what was still to be done. From the review an Action Plan was created. This plan shows what qualification activities we will be carrying out until June 2011.

14-19 Sector Qualifications Strategy Annex
In 2008, the Government launched a consultation on the 14-19 Qualifications Strategy. One of the strategy’s suggestions was to create a new process for making sure that public funding for 14-19 qualifications is more streamlined and that the qualifications system is easier to understand.
A new committee was created to give advice on the funding of 14-19 qualifications and is called: the Joint Advisory Committee for Qualifications Approval (JACQA).
The committee carries out regular reviews of qualifications submitted for funding approval. The committee will also carry out a strategic review of 14-19 qualifications every two years.
We were asked to hold a review of current 14-19 qualifications in our Sector Qualifications Strategy (SQS) and say what further research and analysis is required.
