The Pathways to Apprenticeship Programme is designed to prepare young people for an Advanced Apprenticeship. It is an intensive one year study in college, with a minimum of six weeks work experience.

Farming Connect’s Skills Development Programme will provide 4,500 Welsh farmers and foresters with 80% funding towards training in areas such as sheep shearing, health and safety, trailer towing and more.

If you are a small holder, volunteer or contractor working in environmental conservation in Wales then funding support is available to develop your countryside skills.
Available until March 2012 you could access 30% or 50% towards the cost of the following courses:
- Control of invasive species
- Fencing and gate installation
- Dry stone walling
- Restoration of earth banks
- Tree planting
- Pond creation and management
- New public access creation/management
- Pruning and grafting of orchard trees
- Bracken control
- Hedge-laying, coppicing and replanting
- Ditch management
