Lantra's Chief Executive

Peter Martin

Peter Martin took up the post of Lantra Chief Executive in October 2001 having previously been Director of Standards and Strategy at the Construction Industry Training Board. He has also held posts at the National Health Service and City and Guilds of London Institute.

In 2002 Peter successfully led Lantra’s bid to become a Sector Skills Council (SSC). Since then he has succeeded in developing new strategic and business plans for the organisation and strengthened the links with businesses, partners and government.

He also put Lantra onto a sound financial footing and led a major review of its resource base, consolidated relationships with colleges and other learning providers, and re-structured Lantra to meet the future challenges of being an SSC including building policy, employer engagement, marketing and research functions.

Lantra has now completed its Sector Skills Agreement. This focuses on ensuring sustainable business, recognising and raising the skills of workers and energising more, better-qualified people to enter jobs in the sector.  Peter is now working to ensure that the organisation works with national and regional partners in order that the sector has a focused, co-ordinated and funded business and skills support service.
