What is a Permission for Commercial Operation (PfCO)?

In short, a PfCO is the certification provided by the CAA which allows you to fly drones for commercial gain.

If you intend to fly a drone for any form of financial or commercial gain, then it is a legal requirement for you to gain this certification. This applies to everyone, across every business and with every aircraft.

How does this relate to Lantra?

The use of drones for commercial purposes is a rapidly growing trend which is impacting on a wide range of industries. As an example, drones are increasingly being used by:

  • Farmers, to monitor their crops and livestock from the air
  • Highways Engineers, to inspect bridges, roads and traffic
  • Facilities Managers, to inspect buildings or for pest control
  • Specialist drones are even being developed that will allow farmers to remotely and precisely apply pesticides to crops.

Lantra are proud to be leading on raising awareness of the need for appropriate training on the use of drones and have worked with the industry experts to make this training available to our customers.
