Undertaking the Lantra Awards Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rigging will enable you to prove your competence in forestry and/or arboriculture operations and evidence your ability to meet licence to practice and/or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, profession or industry. If you achieve this qualification, you will have the opportunity to obtain a competency card for employment within the key professional sectors, thus enabling further employment opportunities for which competency is a significant requirement.

If you are over the age of 16 and wish to develop knowledge, understanding and skills and require proof of competence within your field of expertise, then this course is suitable for you. You may already be using your skills across a range of trees and timber operations, however, the Qualification aims to ensure you can be confident the minimum standards of good working practices are observed/followed at all times. This qualification has been devised with the key aim for you to successfully evidence your competence in forestry and arboriculture operations. Individual learning programmes can be tailored to your needs whilst enabling you to achieve or work towards achieving a national competence qualification and improve your opportunities.

Description: 

The course covers the knowledge and competencies required to carry out aerial tree rigging safely. This includes the understanding of and being able to carry out aerial tree rigging activities in a safe and secure manner, in line with industry best practice.

Product objectives: 

Upon completing the Lantra Awards Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rigging you will:

  • Gain knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
  • Be able to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Be able to review and develop your own practices and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks, to the required industry standard
  • Improve awareness of health and safety legislation and of how individuals can contribute to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) agenda
  • Obtain occupational competence and/or licence to practice
  • Meet licence to practice or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, professional or industry.

To achieve this Qualification, learners must complete the single Mandatory unit:
