About LandSkills South East

The LandSkills South East Programme is part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).  LandSkills South East is managed by Lantra on behalf of SEEDA and is jointly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and DEFRA.

LandSkills South East brings a new focus on skills and knowledge transfer for farming, forestry and production horticulture businesses in the South East. The industries where businesses are eligible to benefit from LandSkills South East are:

  • agricultural livestock

  • arable and non food crops

  • production horticulture

  • forestry

  • rural tourism.

LandSkills South East is run by the rbat Network-Lantra Consortium, which will bring complimentary and reinforcing strengths and benefits from a history of collaboration in the past, supporting the needs of the rural sector in the South East. The regional consortium will bring considerable added value and will ensure that eligible beneficiaries are able to gain easy access to responsive training services.

Activities range from targeted training to innovative events to share best practice, all designed to meet industries’ needs and deliver business benefits. The programme can help your business improve its performance in the following areas:

  • land management, climate change and renewable energy

  • bio-diversity, environmental land management and sustainability

  • animal health and welfare

  • environmental sustainability

  • country and woodland skills

  • supply chains and marketing

  • business and management

  • technology transfer
