About LandSkills

The LandSkills programme brings a new focus on skills and knowledge transfer for farming, forestry and production horticulture businesses in Yorkshire and Humber. The industries where businesses are eligible to benefit from LandSkills are:

  • Livestock - beef, sheep and dairy

  • Other livestock - pigs and poultry

  • Arable and non food crops.

  • Production horticulture

  • Forestry

  • Food - in relation to supply chain activity.

 

The programme will target owners, directors and managers in order to improve their business competitiveness. LandSkills is run by an Industry Advisory Board (IAB), which is made up of employers working in industry, who will (and already are) apply their pactical experience and knowledge to steer the programme, commission training activity and champion the programme within their industries.

 

The funding provided will be used to develop skills in:

  • Practical and technical livestock, crop and non-food crop husbandry

  • Management and business, including collaboration

  • Resource use, including waste reduction & management, water use, energy efficiency and bio-energy

  • Animal health and welfare

  • Supply chain efficiency

  • Benchmarking

  • Climate change adaptation and mitigation

  • Environmental land management topics

  • Training for primary processing in the agricultural and forestry sectors

  • ICT and the use of other new technology specific to agriculture and forestry.
