About Lantra in Northern Ireland

Lantra works to improve the level of skills and business performance in companies across 17 industries; these industries are grouped into three broad clusters: land management and production, animal health and welfare and environmental industries.

 

We promote the importance of having a highly skilled and motivated workforce through training and development, with the aim of increasing business productivity, sustainability and ultimately profitability. 

 

Lantra in Northern Ireland represents the interests of approximately 19,000 businesses which employ around 63,000 staff (approximately (9% of the workforce).

 

Assessing the suitability of ApprenticeshipsNI

Lantra carried out research to assess the suitability of Apprenticeships in the environmental and land-based sector; this looked at demand for apprenticeships, are they fit for purpose and recommendations on improving the frameworks/delivery and awareness.  View the report

 

Fencing Analysis

Lantra in conjunction with the Fencing Contractors' Association completed fencing analysis research of fencing businesses in NI.  View the report

 

Higher wages for Environmental Conservation workers

New Chair appointed for Lantra's National Council

Lantra has recently announced the appointment of Campbell Tweed OBE as Chair of its National Council in Northern Ireland. 

 

His appointment is the first stage of a wider initiative to ensure that Sector Skills Councils remain fully employer-led, by strengthening Lantra's National Councils in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and creating an England Council.  To read more about this initiative please click here.

 

Sector Skills Agreement for Northern Ireland

Rural Development Programme (RDP) for Northern Ireland 2007-2013

The Rural Development Programme (RDP) is aimed at improving the economic, social and environmental conditions in rural areas throughout Northern Ireland.  It brings together a wide range of support schemes and programmes for the farming, forestry and primary processing sectors, rural enterprise and business development, diversification and rural tourism.

Skills Ambassadors Programme
