About Lantra in Scotland
In Scotland, Lantra represents the interests of over 24,000 businesses which employ approximately 108,500 employees and a further 40,000 volunteers and 30,000 casual workers. Our aim is to raise the level of skills, knowledge and enterprise of everyone working our industries, to improve the productive and economic growth of the sector.
The Scottish Team work with governments, trade associations, funding bodies, training and education providers and other key strategic partners to drive forward Scotland's skills and business development agenda.
Additional Modern Apprenticeship Opportunities
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) recently secured European Social Funding for an additional 5,000 modern apprenticeships (4,500 in the lowlands and uplands and 500 in the highlands).
Opportunities available include:
- 16-19 year olds
- Adult modern apprenticeship (20+ years) places to be targeted towards occupational frameworks which support the key sector as defined in the Scottish Government's Economic Strategy.
- Adult modern apprenticeship places to be targeted to those other frameworks where there is greater learning input and where the cost to the business outweighs the benefits for a longer period during the period of the apprenticeship.

Encourage Employees to Develop New Skills
This flexible training opportunities programme gives Scottish businesses (1-50 employees) the opportunity to apply for up to £500 towards employee training costs.

New Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture now available
After close liaison with the National Farmers' Union (NFU), farmers, employers, colleges and training providers across Scotland, a new Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture is now ready for delivery. Read more ....
