Lantra has appointed three regional Skills Co-ordinators to help agriculture and forestry businesses in Wales reach their full potential and access subsidised training. They will deliver the Farming Connect Skills Development Programme as part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s flagship support service for farm and forestry businesses.
Lantra National Director for Wales, Kevin Thomas, says, “The Programme provides one-to-one support, knowledge, guidance and subsidised approved training to businesses registered with Farming Connect. Our Co-ordinators are equipped with the right knowledge and experience to enable businesses to gain maximum benefit from the programme.”
Managing the Programme for Lantra and Skills Co-ordinator for the South West Region is Sarah Lewis, who has worked for Lantra for over four years and closely with Farming Connect in the past. She was brought up on a family farm in Pembrokeshire, so is well aware of training issues within agriculture and recognises the importance of investing in skills.
Chris Davies is to cover the Mid and South East Regions of Wales. For generations his family have been hill farmers, producing lambs to be sold mostly sold through the local Brecon Market. He also has experience of beef farming, a degree in IT and Management and a postgraduate certificate in education to teach over 16s.
