Land-based Learner of the Year Awards Wales

Our prestigious awards celebrate the achievements of people like you working hard in our industries.  

Every year we ask for nominations in our hunt for the most inspirational people working in the environmental and land-based industries in Wales. 

Categories

There are five awards in total:

  1. Young Land-based Learner of the Year (under 26)
  2. Lifelong Land-based Learner of the Year (age 26 +)

There will be a Young Land-based Learner and Lifelong Learner in the following two categories:

  • Agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries management, land-based engineering, trees and timber and fencing
  • Animal care, animal technology, equine, farriery, veterinary activities, game and wildlife management, environmental conservation, production horticulture, horticulture, landscaping and sports turf and floristry
  1. A Farming Connect Learner of the Year Award (age 16 plus) for those who have accessed Farming Connect since July 2008.

Prizes and Winners

The Land-Based Learner of the Year Awards took place on the 28th November 2011. They celebrated learners from all walks of life who have made outstanding progress in their chosen field.

The ceremony was presided over by Alun Davies AM who is the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and European Programmes.

Make a nomination

Do you know anyone who deserves recognition? Why not recommend them for an award.

It’s simple. Anyone can make nominations – employers, sole traders, training providers and colleges – in any of the three categories. All you need to do is download the entry form  and return to us at the address provided.

All nominations will be assessed by a panel of experts and winners are announced during an awards ceremony at the Winter Fair.  

Nominations for this years awards are now open but will close on September 30th 2011.
