NATUR will work with its members to endorse or verify activities and offer support as areas for development are identified. Members will be able to use the tool to produce a personal record of achievement, showcasing their developments and areas of expertise.
Mike Alexander, NATUR Executive Director said: “NATUR was formed in order to raise the profile of the countryside and conservation management profession, and to play a leading role in establishing the highest standards of professional competence. Maintaining a high standard of skills in members through a system of Continuing Professional Development, and nurturing those skills in individuals early on in their professions, will be a central role.
The Lantra database will provide an invaluable service in this respect, allowing members to identify requirements, plan progress and report on achievement. The system is at the very heart of NATUR membership management, and we are delighted with this opportunity, generously supported by Lantra through Department Children, Education and Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) Skills Development Fund, to be able to offer Lantra's Skills Manager as a service to our members."
Kevin Thomas, Lantra’s National Director of Wales said: “I am pleased to be supporting NATUR in meeting their key objectives and working with the local community. Lantra’s Skills Manager is an ideal tool for any company looking to record practical experiences and achievements, particularly within a sector where the majority of skills are developed in the workplace."
NATUR was formally launched at the Royal Welsh Show by the Mr Dafydd Elis-Thomas, the Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, on 21 July 2009.
