Trainees, employers and training providers work together so the Modern Apprentice can develop their skills and knowledge through a package of learning at work and off-the-job learning at college.

They are open to anyone aged 16 or over, but funding for college training is currently focussed on those aged 16-19.

Modern Apprenticeships normally take between 1–3 years to complete.

Levels and subjects currently available are: Level 2 and 3 in Agriculture; Level 2 and 3 in Aquaculture; Level 2 and 3 in Equine; Level 2 in Game and Wildlife Management; Level 2 and 3 in Horticulture; Level 2 and 3 in Land-based Engineering; Level 2 and 3 in Rural Skills; Level 2 and 3 in Trees and Timber.
