New Chair appointed for Lantra’s Northern Ireland National Council

 

Lantra has announced the appointment of Ian Marshall as Chair of its National Council in Northern Ireland. Ian will succeed Campbell Tweed OBE who is to stand down after seven years in the role.

The SoFarm project

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry visited RAPID Ltd in Claudy to attend the first presentation of Lantra Awards qualifications to graduating participants on the SoFarm project (Thursday, 24 March 2016)

The SoFarm project is one of 67 projects in Northern Ireland that was successful in its application for funding under the first Call of the NI European Social Fund (ESF) Programme 2014-20. SoFarm is an innovative project designed with a focus on using social farming to improve the skills and employability of people with disabilities.

New Health & Safety, Forestry and First Aid Technical Awards coming soon!

Lantra is delighted to announce a brand new range of Health & Safety and +F (Forestry) First Aid technical awards set to launch this March.

Training providers across Scotland meet at Lantra conference

Some of the key organisations involved with training, qualifications and skills development in Scotland’s land-based and environmental industries were represented at a national conference for training providers and instructors run by Lantra. 

Taking place in in the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro on Thursday 3 December, the one-day event began with an update from Lantra Scotland on its work in the land-based, aquaculture and environmental conservation sector. 

New apprenticeship standards for forestry and arboriculture

Government approval has been granted to two brand new Trailblazer apprenticeship standards which are set to benefit employers in the forestry and arboriculture sector.

The Arborist and Forest Operative apprenticeship standards, which were developed through a comprehensive consultation from over 40 organisations across the industries involved, have been approved at Westminster and lead the way in the government’s drive for apprenticeship reform in England.
