Apprentice Fisheries Bailiff – Ryan Binnie

Keen angler Ryan Binnie has always enjoyed being outdoors, so decided to look for a job that reflected his interests. “While I was at school I was lucky to get work experience with the fisheries service at Stirling Council and later on this helped me in applying for a Modern Apprenticeship in Environmental Conservation with them. It’s a fantastic opportunity and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else now.”
Ryan is working as an Apprentice Fisheries Bailiff with Stirling Council – a role which is rich in diversity and training opportunities.

Senior Marine Operative - Stuart Simon

“I’ve always been keen on going out on the water, so I was delighted to find that a career in aquaculture allowed me to combine my interests and experience, while living in my local area” enthuses Senior Marine Operative Stuart Simon.

Undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship has proved enormously beneficial to Stuart: “It’s been a great grounding in practical knowledge to carry out my role and really boosted my confidence to apply for more senior positions.”

Assistant Manager – Andrew Moore

Andrew Moore is an Assistant Manager with Dawnfresh and winner of Lantra Scotland’s 2015 Aquaculture Learner of the Year Award.

Standards and Qualifications

To meet your industry’s changing needs and to make sure you have skilled, knowledgeable and qualified workers, we work with organisations to produce flexible sets of qualifications and Apprentices using our National Occupational Standards. We know how important these standards and qualifications are, so we regularly review them to keep them up-to-date.
