Scotland Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships provide employees with hands-on experience of learning from their employer and the chance to work towards a nationally recognised qualification.

They offer lots of benefits to businesses, from providing dedicated workers to increasing business competitiveness. The apprentice develops their skills and knowledge through a package of learning at work and off-the-job learning at college.

Modern Apprenticeships involve a partnership between the apprentice, employer and training provider and are open to anyone aged 16 or over.

Apprentice Fisheries Bailiff – Ryan Binnie

Keen angler Ryan Binnie has always enjoyed being outdoors, so decided to look for a job that reflected his interests. “While I was at school I was lucky to get work experience with the fisheries service at Stirling Council and later on this helped me in applying for a Modern Apprenticeship in Environmental Conservation with them. It’s a fantastic opportunity and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else now.”
Ryan is working as an Apprentice Fisheries Bailiff with Stirling Council – a role which is rich in diversity and training opportunities.
