Royal Highland Show 2017

We had a very busy and productive four days at this year’s Royal Highland Show, both on and off our stand, and we’re very grateful to all the people and organisations who helped make our time there such a success.

Thanks to those who joined us: the Scottish Salmon Company, Glasgow City Council Daldowie team, Scottish Meat Training butchers, North Highland College students and staff, The Mountains and the People, and all our industry champions and their employers.

As well as having Cabinet Secretary Fergus Ewing at the launch, we also enjoyed hearing from our speakers Emma Staniforth, Jakob Eunson and Hayley Eccles. The Catalonian Minister of Agriculture found out more about what we do in a visit co-ordinated by Michael Bruce of Glen Tanar Estate.

We attended a range of events hosted by various other organisations across our industries:

  • The first Oxford Farming Conference debate in Scotland on UK agriculture’s future outside the EU.
  • SAYFC Cultivating Leaders event, covering further leadership, business skills and succession planning.
  • Launch of the year-long survey on women in agriculture sector and the new taskgroup
  • We delivered a presentation with industry champion Jakob Eunson at the NFUS seminar on Modern Apprenticeships in Agriculture
  • We gave RHET careers information for teachers and helped them find an industry speaker

You might also have seen our 6m banners around the main ring, the forestry arena and the conservation area, or taken part in our noisy but rather difficult buzz game…

Thanks to all who stopped in to say hello and we hope you had an equally enjoyable and successful Highland Show.
