Lantra CourseFinder is launched in Northern Ireland

Lantra CourseFinder has been developed as a key resource for learners who are looking for courses and training within the sector and provides information across 17 industries from agriculture to floristry. It is a ‘one stop shop’ for both employees and employers who are looking for training opportunities.

Supported by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), DARD Permanent Secretary, Malcolm McKibbin, said: “There are many challenges facing our industry today, and so we need to equip our young people with the skills that their employers require. We must also further develop existing employees’ skills to help increase competitiveness across the sector. DARD has committed funding to Lantra to help ensure that this goal can be achieved. Lantra’s efforts will help ensure that our rural industries can maximise their potential by easily targeting knowledge and skills gaps.

“Through the introduction of CourseFinder, Lantra is improving access to the many training opportunities available to those seeking to enter the land-based sector and those already working in it.   I am delighted that DARD has been associated with this new sign-posting service and I commend it to you.”

Covering a wide range and including more than 5000 courses, learners are able to search from industry-specific skills such as forklift training or manual handling, through to generic courses in management and IT.

David Seffen, Lantra Northern Ireland Partnership Manager, said:  “This is a fantastic development for the land-based sector.  Skills development within our industries will prove crucial in providing a sustainable future for Northern Ireland.”
