A new framework is being developed as a new way of recognising skills and qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Qualifications and Credit Framework recognises skills and qualifications by awarding credits to units, which can be built up into qualifications, enabling people to gain units and qualifications at their own pace through flexible routes.
Lantra has worked with a number of awarding bodies and industry representatives to develop units which are now ready for trialling. Eleven centres across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are ready to trial the units and will be enrolling learners over the next month. The trial will continue until June 2008 when the system will go live.
