There have been more than 9000 searches made on the online Lantra One Stop for training since its launch at the end of June 2007.
Lantra and learndirect scotland developed the One Stop Shop for training in the environmental and land-based sector in response to industry demand that all information on training be accessible from one central point.
Mike Russell MSP, Minister for Environment, officially launched the One Stop Shop at the Royal Highland Show, where he hailed the collaboration as “an excellent example of a strong and successful partnership between farmers, employers, Lantra and learndirect scotland.”
Users can search through thousands of courses and training providers throughout Scotland to find the training that best meets their needs. Searches can be filtered by location, cost of training and the type of attendance required.
Lantra National Director for Scotland William Fergusson said: “For the first time ever, farmers, crofters and others working in the land-based sector have the opportunity to find all the solutions to their learning and training needs in one website. We have been delighted with the high number of users in such a short space of time. What this shows is that people recognise the value of training and have been looking for this information. It just wasn’t that easy to find, but now it is and they are making use of it!’
Damien Yates, Chief Executive learndirect scotland said: “The One Stop Shop was developed in response to demand from the industry, and these figures are very encouraging. The One Stop Shop will be of benefit to everyone in the environmental and land-based sector. As well as helping individuals and employers easily identify appropriate training opportunities, it will enable training providers to effectively promote and develop their services.”
