National Occupational Standards review

The Standards and Qualifications team are currently working on the review of the National Occupational Standards (NOS), NVQ/SVQ Qualification Structures and Assessment Strategies.

The industries to be reviewed are:

  • Animal technology

  • Environmental conservation

  • Game and wildlife management

  • Land-based engineering

  • Livestock production

  • Mixed farming

  • Production Horticulture

  • Trees and timber

Over the past 12 months Lantra has worked closely with the trees and timber industry to review the current tree work NOS.

Since October 2006, there have been six meetings with industry representatives to seek their views on how the industry has changed since the current NOS were produced (in March 2002) and to use their expertise to identify what needs to be done to the Standards to make sure they are up to date, more understandable to industry and best reflect how the industry now operates.

Lantra are now pleased to announce that the first phase of the review is ready for industry consultation.  The draft tree work NOS will be available at www.lantra.co.uk for comment week commencing 10th January 2008.

The Standards and Qualifications team recently received the go ahead to lead on the review of the current environmental management NOS, which up until recently were developed and reviewed by the Management Standards Centre.
