The research also reported that the majority of students get information and advice on careers from their parents (52%), schools careers advisors (45%) and teachers (30%). Accounting for this, the new website will include areas for young people age 11-16, adults age 17+ and a new area for career advisers and teachers.
PR and Marketing Manager, Bailey Lamburn said: “The majority of the students asked would like to see more information on the website. Their suggestions refer to more information regarding colleges that run land-based courses, the entry qualifications for these courses, the types of jobs available to them and the average pay for these occupations.”
“Lantra will work with the main trade organisations for each of the industries and sub-industries to get an accurate picture and summary of their industry. This information will sit alongside Lantra’s research and careers information which will include careers ladders demonstrating the job profiles and progression routes for each industry.”
Lantra has been working with Coventry-based designers, Parenthesis, which has created an eye-catching design linking the web address to the concept of people’s hidden career aspirations breaking through into everyday life. To get the required images, two photo shoots were held at the NFU buildings at Stoneleigh Park and at Cardinal Wiseman School in Coventry. Students from the school and willing staff volunteers from Lantra took part. The new website will be unveiled later in the year.
