Apprenticeship frameworks review update

The aim of the review is to find out what apprenticeships are being offered in the sector, what works well and what doesn’t, then to work with industry to improve the current frameworks to meet business needs and encourage more applicants on to the programmes.

The results of the short survey into the first four frameworks to be reviewed (agriculture, animal care, production horticulture and landscape) will soon be collated prior to a series of working groups to be set up end May to early July.  There will be a series of working groups in each nation.

The next group of frameworks to be reviewed comprises fencing, floristry, environmental conservation, dry stone walling, trees and timber and game and wildlife management.  The process begins in May with the formation of a steering group for these industries and will follow the same process as phase one:

  1. an online survey to gather background information

  2. working groups in the nations to agree changes to the apprenticeship frameworks

  3. development of the revised apprenticeship frameworks

  4. final industry approval

  5. submission to the relevant bodies for approval for use in the nations

The review process is being led by steering groups with employers and representatives from key trade associations.

Lantra wishes to thank all employers, industry representatives and training providers who are supporting this work.
