Lantra progress work with Careers Service NI

Lantra Northern Ireland recently met with Johnny Nolan from the Careers Services NI (part of the Department of Employment and Learning) in order to discuss ways in which careers guidance and advice can be tailored to meet the needs of the land-based and environmental sector.

Johnny Nolan, Careers Service Support Unit said: "Careers Service NI  provides impartial information, advice and guidance to an all age client group.  Lantra provides quality Labour Market Information to the Careers Service NI which enables careers advisers to provide up-date, accurate information to clients, thus raising opportunity awareness linked to local indigenous industry and the wider Northern Ireland economy."

Chris Catchpole, Lantra’s Careers and Employability Manager said: "From industry’s perspective there is a real skills shortage within many sectors, with many young people not having access to the clear advice and guidance in order to make informed choices.  There is also a need to promote the many and varied careers within the land-based sector to adult and young people alike."

With the ever growing need for up-to-date careers information it is imperative that Lantra and the Careers Service NI work together in order to ensure that advice and guidance is available to both young people and adults.
