Establishing how Lantra is perceived by its stakeholders is an important tool for evaluating performance and identifying areas that might benefit from further attention. To this aim Lantra surveyed 349 employer representative bodies and government departments/agencies in October 2007.
It was interesting to discover from the numerous positive comments the elements of the organisation and work that is valued most highly. But of even greater importance are the constructive criticisms gathered, these have been considered carefully and are being used to help shape Lantra’s future plans.
When stakeholders were specifically asked ‘What does Lantra do well?’ the majority of responses were aimed at strong employer and stakeholder engagement, and ensuring a positive link between the two through networking and working in partnership.
Lantra was described by stakeholders as a ‘strengthening regional voice’ that listens and communicates with the sector, pulls together diverse interests and lobbies government for its industries, raising their profile and meeting their specific needs.
Stakeholders also provided positive comments about Lantra’s research and labour market information (LMI), describing it as excellent, up-to-date, very well focussed, extremely comprehensive and easily digested. The overviews were rated as good, as well as ensuring detail by country, regional and sub-sector level.
The feedback from those working in government departments and agencies revealed satisfaction levels remained similarly high in most areas when compared to 2006, with an increase with regards to ‘promoting vocational qualifications and frameworks’ and ‘developing and promoting the use of NOS’. Lantra’s reputation as an organisation overall also increased.
While much of Lantra’s work will remain focused on supporting employers and individuals’ access to high quality learning, Lantra knows how important it is to fully engage with stakeholders. For it is by helping to shape the policies of governments, providers and funding agencies, that Lantra can achieve its aim of ensuring a continued supply of skilled and competent people able to contribute to the productivity and profitability of businesses within the sector.
