Sector Skills Agreements (SSAs)

Getting the right people with the right skills at the right time has been the driving force behind the work of the Sector Skills Agreement (SSA).  The agreement is a collaboration between employers, education providers, partners and governments and is working towards making skills provision, advice, guidance and funding more demand led.  It builds the foundations for a more sustainable future for the environmental and land-based industries in the UK.

The SSA offers an historic opportunity to create those changes which will enable businesses to develop and become more sustainable.  All partners will need to respond positively in order that the provision of learning, development and business support can become demonstrably demand led.  Working in partnership with employers, key organisations and trade associations across the UK,  Lantra has started to implement some of these proposed actions.  The Agreements will be dynamic in nature and will change as new initiatives and working partnerships develop.

These documents highlight the key themes that emerged from the SSA research and discussions with both stakeholders and employers, along with the collaborative solutions that have been agreed by the various parties.  The annexes to these reports give a summary of research work on which these solutions are based.
