Brought up on a family farm in South Armagh, Northern Ireland, he read biology in Liverpool and followed it with a range of post graduate qualifications in Health and Safety and Management, including an MBA. His doctorate concerned the strategic business value of social networks.
He has worked in public, private and third sectors and today is an executive Director at BASF plc with a portfolio including sustainability, communications and external affairs for Europe. He also advises strategic and tactical groups inside and outside the business in sectors including science, environment and further education.
Outside work Geoff has two young sons and received a number of awards linked to his work with Rotary International.
