Here at Lantra, because we carry out EPA assessments in England, we understand just how important apprenticeships are to young people starting a career. The process equips you with vital knowledge, skills and practical, hands-on experience required for entry into specialist jobs, particularly land-based employment.
We know the past few months have been an incredibly hard time for apprentices, with the coronavirus outbreak causing some organisations to make redundancies, leaving experienced, work-ready apprentices without an employer.
Therefore, the Government's Apprenticeship department has launched the Redundancy Support Service for Apprentices, listing the advice you may need as well as helping individuals to find new opportunities.
If you are currently going through this process, or know somebody who is, you can call 0800 015 0400 to get free advice, find new opportunities, and access local and national support services offering financial, health and wellbeing, legal and careers advice.
Alternatively, you can access their free guidance material, search and apply for apprenticeship opportunities or sign up for their new vacancy sharing service to find employers who are interested in hiring redundant apprentices. Simply click below to visit their dedicated webpage.
Are you an employer?
Looking to hire an experience apprenticeship? The organisation has set up a new vacancy sharing service to find employers who are interested in hiring redundant apprentices. Once you’ve signed up, they will share regular updates to let you know which opportunities there are available in your area.
When employers hire redundant apprentices, they could be eligible for incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice. They’ll get up to £2,000 to support their organisation’s costs when they hire a new apprentice between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021 - no matter what size their organisation is.
