Lantra has joined forces with Pearson to provide a valuable learning opportunity.
Lantra is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership, which sees us joining forces with Pearson, the world’s learning company, to support students who are looking for practical skills training to complement their BTEC qualification with the ultimate aim of making themselves more attractive to employers.
The BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Level 3 National is a Further Education qualification and vocational qualification taken in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The qualification is organised and awarded by Pearson within the BTEC brand and it is equivalent to A-Levels.
The BTEC Level 3 National is particularly suitable for those who have strong inclinations towards a particular vocational career, starting with technical level posts and leading, after experience, to supervisory and enterprise management posts. Students with BTEC Level 3 Nationals are also able to apply to university, as they are awarded the same UCAS points as A-Levels, and BTEC is now the UK’s fastest growing route into University.
BTEC Level 3 Nationals are specialist work-related qualifications which combine practical learning with subject and theory content. Pearson has mapped out some clear career pathways within the broad subject areas of Agriculture, Horticulture, Countryside Management, Forestry and Arboriculture, Animal Management and Equine Management.
Pearson has partnered with Lantra in response to employers who have requested that students have practical skills gained through Lantra accredited training and qualifications. This will equip them to be immediately useful in the workplace in their specialist careers.
To quote Marcus Potter, Lantra CEO:
“As an awarding organisation, Lantra offers over 350 accredited training courses and qualifications to equip students for the modern workplace. We are delighted to have partnered with Pearson who, working with our network of training Providers and Instructors, can now offer students the best of both worlds - a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National qualification that is tailored to their career, underpinned with Lantra accredited training or additional qualifications.
This gives students a huge advantage in the employment marketplace, as they emerge from their colleges with the certification and qualifications legally required to operate in their chosen field. This makes them immediately useful to their employer. Technical Awards and qualifications are listed on the student’s Lantra Skills ID Card and new skills can be added by further training as they progress in their careers.
To quote Suzanne Hall, Pearson Head of Sector Development: Technical and Professional:
“The Pearson BTEC is a career-focused qualification that helps to prepare learners for the world of work. We are delighted to partner with Lantra to provide this additional opportunity for learners to gain practical skills training. By clearly identifying clear career pathways from within our BTEC Level 3 National and demonstrating the synergy with the Lantra training and qualifications, we are able to provide a valuable opportunity for learners.”
This benefits centres as learners can complete more learning programmes, making the industry sectors more professional by linking specialist skills with an academic qualification.
It also benefits learners by giving them the experience they need to enter the workforce. Lantra qualifications will complement BTEC courses offering additional key work-based skills to help learners pursue a career in these land-based sectors.
