The traffic management industry has been working for several years to develop a formal trade specific apprenticeship programme for traffic management organisations.

In mid-2020 a fresh trailblazer group was created and it was identified that the three separate stream structure of the current NHSS 12 would never be able to be packaged into an apprenticeship.

An apprenticeship is required to deliver a breadth of knowledge with a range of transferable skills to Learners and having three streams would never meet this core criteria for a successful approval.

Lantra is now undertaking, on behalf of the trailblazer group, a formal consultation on the output of the review and we're seeking comments from the representative bodies and wider industry on the proposed replacement of NHSS 12A, 12B, 12C and 12D with one combined modular structure titled NHSS12.
