Peter Rees

Peter studied Agriculture at Nottingham University. Upon graduation he joined the Welsh Agricultural College as a lecturer in Animal Production and subsequently moved to Coleg Sir Gar where he became Assistant Principal, Learner and Business Development before retiring in December 2014.  

Whilst at Coleg Sir Gar Peter established the Dairy Development Centre at its Gelli Aur Campus and the redevelopment of the Campus as a centre of excellence recognised by Welsh Government.  Peter led the College’s award-winning employer engagement strategies including the delivery of an extensive range of courses, knowledge transfer programmes and other services directly into all the key local industries.  He is currently an independent member of the Strategic Board and chairs the Training sub group overseeing Welsh Government’s Farming Connect service. He is also a member of the AHDB Dairy Board.

Peter is a Nuffield Farming Scholar and his contribution to Education and Technology Transfer to the Welsh Dairy Sector was recognised with the award of a Fellowship of the Royal Agricultural Societies (FRAGS).

Peter is a partner in a farming family business including a 300 cow dairy enterprise and an award winning touring caravan park.

Peter is a former rugby referee having officiated in club, regional and international competitions.  He is now vice chairman of his local rugby club.
