The Lantra Awards Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Fencing has been developed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to enter the fencing, highways and land-based sector. It includes pathways that reflect the sub-sectors of the fencing sector; boundary fencing and vehicle restraint systems (VRS). The qualification may also be suitable for those already in employment looking to update their knowledge.

The qualification is designed to enable you to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to support your role and establish a career in a variety of sub-sectors, including agricultural fencing, high security fencing, vehicle restraint systems, residential, environmental, as well as automatic gates and access barriers. The qualification will enhance your ability to work safely, effectively and efficiently in the workplace, reducing unnecessary risks to yourself and others.

This qualification aims to assess your knowledge and understanding relating to:

  • Health and safety within land-based activities
  • Principles of manual handling
  • Abrasive wheel operations
  • Use and maintain non-powered and hand held powered tools and equipment
  • Boundary fencing and/or vehicle restraint systems.

The assessment will consist of internal assessment and external verification.

The qualification is intended to offer Learners involved in a variety of fencing roles the opportunity to achieve a recognised national qualification which reflects the national standards for the type(s) of role(s) they perform.
