It will ensure you can be confident that minimum standards of good working practices are observed and followed at all times.
It will also confirm your occupational competence and/or licence to practice.
It's ideal for anyone over the age of 16 who wants to develop their tree felling and processing knowledge, understanding and skills.
For professional chainsaw operators working in forestry and arboriculture the industry recommendation is that for ’high risk‘ activities the minimum level of adequacy of training is to a certificate of competence or nationally recognised qualification where assessment is carried out independently of the training. This qualification meets this requirement’

You'll be taught over 19 hours of targeted training.
Once you've earned our qualification, you'll be able to obtain a competency card for employment within this key professional sector.
That will significantly boost your career opportunities.
Quality Assurance policies are in place to ensure that all assessments meet the independent assessment requirements for this sector.
Worth noting: To earn this qualification, you'll need to have completed a mandatory course - Fell and process trees over 380mm and already hold Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm.

Who should attend?
If you are over the age of 16 and wish to develop your knowledge, understanding, and skills and require proof of competence within your field of expertise then this course is suitable for you.
Within your role, you may be using your skills across a range of trees and timber operations. This qualification aims to ensure that you can be confident the minimum standards of good working practices are observed/followed at all times.
What will be covered?
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
- Assess your knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
- Assess your ability to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Assess your ability to review and develop their own practices and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks, to the required industry standard
- Improve awareness of health and safety legislation and how individuals can contribute to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) agenda.
