This course will enable you to understand the principles of fixing highway road defects and the hazards involved, and will give you an awareness of the current associated specification and documentation.

This course offers the following certificate options depending on the type of road you are working on:

  • Local Authority Roads
  • Motorways and Trunk Roads.

This training course has been developed to help you understand how to fix road defects safely.

The amount of instruction you require will depend largely upon your previous experience and sessions will be adapted to meet your needs. Course duration will depend on experience and is a one day course as a minimum.

The training course will consist of theory and practical sessions, followed by assessment. Course sessions include:

  • Health, Safety and the Law
  • Road Defect Knowledge
  • Road Structure, Materials and Tools
  • Defect Preparation, Repair and Finishing
  • Compaction Plant and Compaction
  • Vehicle Knowledge
  • Knowledge Check
  • Practical Demonstration
  • Practical Assessment.

If successful in meeting the required standards assessed, you will be awarded a certificate of competence and a Lantra Skills ID card for your chosen certificate option.
