About

The Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance qualification is nationally recognised and is the first step towards becoming a fully qualified chainsaw user.

For professional chainsaw operators working in forestry and arboriculture the industry recommendation is that for ’high risk‘ activities the minimum level of adequacy of training is a certificate of competence or nationally recognised qualification where assessment is carried out independently of the training.

This qualification meets this requirement.

The finer details

This qualification will allow you to develop and demonstrate your competence in chainsaw maintenance; to work safely, effectively and efficiently, reducing unnecessary risks to yourself and others.

It will also provide firm evidence of your ability to meet licence-to-practise standards.

Quality Assurance policies are in place to ensure that all assessments meet the independent assessment requirements for this sector.

The following pathways are available:

  • Maintenance for liquid fuel-powered chainsaws
  • Maintenance for battery-powered chainsaws.

Further information relating to content of this qualification can be found in the Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance Qualification Specification.
