The minimum age to undertake this course is 16.

 

This is a five-day course designed to give you the basics and more to give you an insight in what it takes to become a horse logger. It is run by tutors that are on the BHL Approved contractors list, so they have plenty of experience to pass on. Over the week you will gain confidence and hopefully at the end be able to go away and volunteer with other loggers near you to become proficient and maybe take it further.

No experience is needed but the course is hands on and spent outdoors. It is limited to 4 participants with two instructors and two horses, so you have plenty of time to handle the reins. The start of the week is spent in an arena or track, then moves to the woods to add more obstacles. At the end of the week, you should be able to work on your own with a little supervision in a real forest setting.

Who should attend?
