The aim of this comprehensive training course is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical competence required to undertake safe, humane, and effective shooting of grey squirrels as part of conserving red squirrels and for woodland and biodiversity management programmes, in accordance with current UK legislation, standards and recognised best practice.
It is an ideal one-day course offering suitable individuals the opportunity to provide evidence to support competence in grey squirrel management.
The theory aspects of this course will be classroom based in the morning with plenty of time for learners to ask questions and discuss situations. The practical and technical shooting aspects will take place in the afternoon.
Learners will be formally assessed via an individual written test, continuous assessment in the safe handling of rifles and a shooting accuracy test.
