Who should attend?
Anyone wishing to gain the knowledge of how to use veterinary medicines safely and responsible, and for those who wish to comply with Red Tractor Farm Assurance and supermarket contract requirements.What will be covered?
- Know how to store and maintain medicines on farm
- Understand the differences between vaccines and treatments
- Describe the basic differences between antibiotic classes and their appropriate use
- Understand the basics of wormers (anthelmintics)
- Know when and how to use NSAID medicines (e.g., Metacam, Ketofen)
- Understand the responsibility of those administrating medicines to farm animals – Welfare / Safety / Public health
- Safely and effectively administer veterinary medicines by different routes – drenching / bolusing / subcutaneous / intramuscular / intravenous injection.
- Understand the importance of an active farm health plan
- Understand how to comply with drug legislation, assurance standards and Record keeping
