Horticulture & Landscape

The wider UK Landscaping and Horticulture industry plays a vital role in the nation’s economy, culture, health and environment.

Industry overview

Landscaping and horticulture plays a vital role in the UK and Ireland’s economy, culture and health, enhancing the lives of citizens and tourists. Spending on our green spaces also drives economic activity for businesses that produce, retail and maintain plants, trees and other goods. In 2018, landscaping and horticulture directly contributed £12.6 billion to the UK and Ireland’s economy while supporting around 570,000 employees.

Plants, trees and green spaces play a huge part in reversing the climate and biodiversity crisis, which is why the industry underpins almost half of the government’s 25-year environmental plan.

From new starter training to refresher courses, we help employers meet a diverse range of skill requirements. Courses cover safe use of machinery like mowers, brushcutters, leaf blowers, trimmers and clearing saws, as well as new training to help employees maintain and look after this expensive equipment. We offer courses in sports turf and green roof maintenance, artificial surfaces and integrated weed management, as well as training and qualifications for the safe use of pesticides, including recognised certificates of competence.
