- Safe guidance of group to ensure all group members are kept within front & rear guides and able to hear & understand all oral deliveries
- Aims & objectives relevant to the participants & organisational goals
- Setting of reasonable goals needs to take into account the abilities & needs of the recipient group
- Carry out risk assessment procedures taking into account abilities of individuals, weather, terrain & objectives
- Suitable provision for First Aid & casualty evacuation
- Assist the participants to understand the methods of delivering information to a group whilst in the field
- Planning content & rationale of environmental walks
- Take account of wider environmental issues and allow for achievable learning outcomes in the given time scale
- Methods of providing additional educational inputs to groups engaged in field walks on environmental issues
- Carry out practice walks to assess the participants’ ability to carry out a guided walk.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Plan a guided walk ensuring the safety of group members
- Deliver a guided walk along planned routes taking into account needs & abilities of group members, within allotted time scale
- Understand the requirement & procedure for risk assessment including first aid provision
- Deliver environmental information whilst conducting a guided walk which is relevant & suitable for the knowledge & understanding of the group members
- Provide suitable back up information relevant to the topic under scrutiny
- Adhere to required organisational procedures in terms of recording and feedback.
