The course sessions include:
- Look the main species of worms affecting sheep and seasonal variation in their prevalence.
- State the impact of worm infection of animal performance.
- Identify risk factors in the development of wormer resistance.
- How to carry out a faecal egg count.
- Identify worm eggs as part of the faecal egg counting process.
- Discuss other diagnostic methods.
- Describe the impact of breeding, animal nutrition and grazing on worm burdens.
- Introduction to the different wormer groups and combination products.
- Select the most appropriate wormer based on faecal egg count results and time of year.
- Look at appropriate strategies for developing a sustainable worm control programme within their own flock.

This course is designed for all sheep producers and will account for varying technical knowledge of worm control and faecal egg counting knowledge. Group size will be limited to ensure individual requirements can be met and course material will be delivered in with a practical advice ensuring that flock managers can implement the control strategies discussed. The course will be equally applicable to organic producers.
